Evaluation of a variety of sleep disorders, including
insomnia, sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome, takes place in the Crouse Sleep
Center. The Crouse Sleep
Center incorporates
numerous medical specialties in order to obtain an accurate and timely diagnosis.
Most sleeping disorders can be treated once they are diagnosed. Both physical
and psychological aspects of the problem must be examined for an accurate
diagnosis.
An overnight study takes place in Crouse Hospital. Sleep is monitored
through a polysomnograph. This equipment monitors breathing, heart and brain
activity, blood oxygen content and body movement throughout the night. A
registered polysomnographic technologist, technicians and physicians staff the
sleep services facility.
